Let’s talk about eyelid primers. Some people love them, others don’t know what they are.
But they are very important to our makeup routine.
Our lids tend to get oily throughout the day, which causes eyeshadow to crease, streak and fade.
Isn’t it annoying when you apply a really pretty eye makeup and by the end of the day it is faded or full of creases? This is where the primers come in.The primers are used to create an even canvas on your lids for eyeshadow and with the right primer, your eyeshadow will stay put all throughout the day.
Another added benefit is that you won’t have to use as much eyeshadow, because primers allow the shadow to look more vibrant on the skin. Some also work really well on mature skin because they smooth fine lines and reduce puffiness, which allows your eye shadows to go on evenly.
Here are my favorite eyelid primers-
Urban Decay Primer Potion ($18) is a product that every beauty blogger talks about and uses. And for good reason, it’s a great product. The wand applicator makes it incredibly easy to apply and the liquid formula creates a matte even colored eyelid that dries super fast.
The Primer Potion comes in-
Original: nude -which dries invisible
Eden: a tawny matte finish
Sin: a champagne shimmer
MAC Paints (16.50) are my FAVORITES!!! These are not marketed as a primer, but they work just like one. These paints are great for two reasons. #1-they keep your shadows from creasing and fading #2 they can give a really beautiful intense look to you eyeshadow.
Clinique Touch Base for Eyes ($14.50) The beautiful neutral colors make this product wonderful as a primer or an everyday eyeshadow. It never creases and doesn’t need any powder shadow on top, which make it a top pick for mature eyelids.
It Cosmetics Bye Bye Lid Lines- ($24)- This product blends easily on the lids, which is great for not irritating the thin skin on our eyelids. It is also packed full green tea (which reduces puffiness) and Vitamin K (which helps target discoloration) Also hypo-allergenic and paraben-free.
